In 2007, Capital City Builders won the 3rd annual Remodler’s Showcase Silver Award for a Sunroom Addition $100,000 to $150,000. Although this award-winning project was large, Capital City Builder’s philosophy is “no job is too small.”
Larry is a founding member of the Tallahassee Builder’s Association Remodelers Council and was chairman of the Remodeler’s Council from 1992-1993. Larry offers the following Do’s and Don’ts for remodeling, renovations, or additions.
Capital City Builder’s motto is “The difficult we do right away, the impossible takes a little longer.” It is this attitude that gains customer’s loyalty and makes Capital City Builders one of the premier remodelers in Tallahassee.
Larry and Gloria Strickland will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in August. Larry attributes the success of Capital City Builders to Gloria’s dedication and support over the years. “she has always supported me and has always been there for better and worse.”
“I don’t know if I chose remodeling or if remodeling chose me.” Larry grew up in Jacksonville with both a father and uncle who remodeled houses. Larry started working with his uncle as a teenager and found that remodeling had more challenges and variety than new construction. “Every client and house is different. The fact that it is not a permanent environment adds variety to my work life.” Many of the different people that Larry meets have become life long friends. Larry’s wife, Gloria, states, “I am so proud of the quality and detail Larry puts into every job. I am always amazed to see the transformation when each job is completed and delighted to see how satisfied the homeowner is with their new surroundings. Larry is extremely conscientious and a man of integrity.”
